Language Arts: Mod 1 Activity 1:
Write a note about any school you have been to where you have witnessed a bullying incident. Write your note as if you were writing to the Revealers. If you have never witnessed a bullying incident make up a fictional one. Activity 2:
Draw a picture of the Cat and the Rats. What do you think it would look like? Do a quick rough draft first (on notebook paper) and then move on to a final draft that we will hang in the classroom. Use blank white paper for final drafts. Remember to try to make the "Cat" have Catalina's physical traits as well as Thing 1 and 2 looking like your imagination of what Elliot and Russell would look like dressed up as Thing 1 and Thing 2. Outline first in pencil then add color.
Math: Mod 4 Start working on problems on page 42 in the book. Problems 1-30. If any students finish early they should go back to pages 38-41 and complete the word problems. Collect any work they finish at the end of class. Be sure students write which problems they worked on and which pages at the top of their paper. EXTRA CREDIT for neatly done and well organized papers. They will also lose credit if they are not neatly done and organized.
Mod 5: Science: Watch the Bill Nye Video about the Nervous System. This is a review. Have students write down any new facts they have learned about the Nervous System. Have students write a letter to Bill Nye. Hand out the template for the letter after students have viewed the movie. This is homework if they don't finish.
Mod 6: Social Studies: Read the Monarch Butterfly articles. Write down key ideas in your notes. Please let students know that you will be collecting the notes at the end of class for a grade.
Mod 8: Enrichment: Students should work on the grammar worksheets. If they finish before Friday they can continue on their creative writing stories.
November 9th:
Language Arts: Mod 1
Essay questions. Students may use their books to complete the essay questions. They should be using the books to support their statements in their essays. This should take the entire period. If it doesn't they probably haven't given enough support for their claims.
Math: Mod 4: Quiz on GCF and LCM. Collect the quiz then students can return to their work from yesterday. Pass their papers back to them.
Science: Mod 5: Watch the Bill Nye Video about digestion. Have students take notes about what new facts they have learned. Again, have them write a Bill Nye letter.
Mod 6: Watch the Butterfly migration video. Take notes to support what students learned in the readings yesterday.
Mod 8: Continue on grammar worksheets or creative writing.
